Editors’ Note
It is a risk to plant a seed, an act of believing. It requires courage, fortitude, and belief that there will be a future in which the seed might thrive. Such is the seed that is this first issue of Asterales: A Journal of Arts & Letters.
For Issue One, we reached out to some of our favorite planters of word and image to give the debut of the journal the solid roots it needs to bloom and grow. Without the work of these gardeners, this soil would not be bursting with such diverse delights:
Portals and garage doors.
Architecture and deconstruction.
Sky and sand.
Impressions and elements.
Skipping stones and missing birds.
Masks and absence.
We are endlessly grateful to the writers and artists who trusted us to tend to their creations, who supported our dream to bring this labor of love to you. And we are endlessly grateful to you, dear readers, for being here with us now.
And now that we’ve begun, we look forward to gathering seeds from far and wide to see what will blossom in the future.
